We enjoyed meeting to talk about ‘Into the Fire’ by Manda Scott. It was agreed that the main story surrounding Joan of Arc was fascinating, with violent scenes of battles and could have stood as a book on its own. Instead the chapters are intertwined with a contemporary police investigation into a series of fires. A very complicated plot, the two stories linked by the presence of fires and location in Orleans.
The book provoked the most interesting discussions, which we agreed were what the group enjoys most.
Next time, we meet to talk about ‘All the Light we Cannot See’ by Anthony Doerr. This will be on Sunday 26th March at 5.30pm in the village hall.
