Everyone agreed that ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ by Anthony Doerr was an excellent novel. It deals with a blind girl, much loved by her father, who constructs detailed models of the places they live, initially in Paris and then as the Germans invade, in St. Malo, so that she can feel her way around. At the same time we have the story of an orphaned young boy in Germany, who is a brilliant technician with radio and is adopted by the Nazis in their hope of finding illegal users of radios to help in the Resistance. There are many other strands to this highly readable book.
